Dear Madam/Sir: I am enthusiastically seeking a full time teaching position for the 2014-2015 school year. I am most interested in educating elementary aged children with or without special needs. I hold a Master of Science in Special Education. In addition, I am dual certified in Childhood Education (1-6) and Students with Disabilities (1-6); with the Birth-2 extension for each certificate pending. I pride myself on being a patient, creative, and a passionate teacher who effects positive change by putting the needs of my students first. My prior teaching experiences have allowed me to work with multiple groups of students with diverse learning styles across several grade levels. As a result, I have experience with a range of curricula. I have co-taught in an 8-1-4 classroom setting, working with special needs students in grades 3-6. Prior, I served as a sixth grade Integrated Classroom teacher, pushing into the classroom and providing pull out support services as well. In addition, I provided consultant teacher services to the first grade and resource room services for second and third grade students. Among my other experiences, I was the first grade head teacher at a school for children with special needs where I guided students working toward IEP mandated educational and behavioral goals. My didactic background, coupled with my experiential background, enables me to teach and differentiate instruction for students with a wide spectrum of abilities. It is both my honor and my duty to make education accessible and enjoyable for all students. My lessons are accessible because they are informed by multimodal learning approaches. I utilize a variety of technologies on a daily basis across all content areas (including SMART Boards). I use group work and hands on learning to keep the students motivated. The incorporation of fun and educational projects are a functional strategy to keep students who have trouble staying on task focused and learning. As a teacher for students with disabilities, I guide learners in the use of functional and appropriate behaviors as well as teaching the academics necessary for them to succeed and make positive choices. My priorities include managing the diverse needs of the students, creating a safe and healthy learning environment, and fostering positive interactions and teamwork among classroom staff and other related service providers. I believe that my energy, education, and experience combine to make me a viable candidate for an instructional position. I look forward to completing any further application materials that your district may require as well as the opportunity to meet with you for a personal interview at your convenience. My phone number and e-mail address are provided above. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration. I look forward to discussing my credentials, educational outlook, and passion for instilling students with a lifelong love of learning. Sincerely, Tanya Bizzarro
